The consultation is a phone call (typically around 15 minutes long - however, we might not need that much time!) during which you will be invited to briefly share about the difficulties you’d like support for. I will share my current availability for sessions to make sure our schedules align.
If we both feel ready to start working together, we will select a date and time for the first therapy session and I will send the intake documents to you via email - the documents will give you the option to add virtual signatures and send them back to me through my HIPAA-compliant electronic health record system.
All intake documents must be completed and an active credit card must be on file in the billing system before our first therapy session can begin.

During the beginning stages of therapy, I’ll be focused on really getting to know you - your past, present, and desires for the future! So I will ask questions about your view of yourself, your childhood and adulthood experiences, and the kind of change you hope to see in your life.

Therapy sessions are typically held on a weekly basis, especially in the beginning of treatment. Because each client is a unique individual, the therapy process varies from person to person. As a person-centered and compassion-focused therapist, I use a lot of empathy and highlighting of your personal strengths. As a somatic therapist who uses EMDR, I emphasize the mind-body connection and incorporate activities that help you connect with your emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and physical sensations, and that support your nervous system in feeling more at peace (learn more about EMDR here). Therapy sessions are a safe space for you to be emotionally “held” by a caring, nonjudgmental supporter, which is a key component in healing from painful experiences.

Again, each client is a unique individual on their own personal journey - so the therapy process varies from person to person! Many people notice a big change in how they feel (for example: no longer having constant anxiety or trauma symptoms, or being able to calmly cope with stress on a regular basis) after a few months of consistently engaging in therapy. For others, remaining in therapy for a handful of years is most helpful. Some people remain in therapy for many years if they continue to benefit from being supported through their long-term experiences. There is no one-size-fits-all timeline when it comes to mental health!

I specialize in helping people who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, and/or perinatal mental health challenges (mental health difficulties that occur during or are related to pregnancy, the postpartum period, and parenting young children). I am a certified EMDR therapist and certified perinatal mental health specialist, and have extensive training in using EMDR to treat trauma and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

Your baby is welcome to accompany you in your sessions! Some clients find it helpful to use the space to receive support in developing their relationships with their little ones. However, please note that this may impact activities done during the sessions; for example, some parts of trauma therapy may be put on hold if your child is present.

Your personal information and what you share during therapy sessions is considered confidential personal health information (PHI) and is kept private, unless you give consent for information to be shared with others for a specific purpose, OR a legal or safety issue that requires collaboration with others arises. Examples of special circumstances that might require sharing of information include:
You being in danger of causing serious harm to yourself or another person
Information about abuse or neglect of a minor, elder adult, or dependent adult is disclosed
You are involved in a legal issue that requires information about you to be shared with legal authorities
Your session notes will be stored in a secure, HIPAA-compliant electronic health record system.

I am in-network with Aetna and Optum/UnitedHealthcare plans.
If I am not in-network with your insurance, then I am considered an out-of-network provider and you will be charged the full fee of $200 for each session.
If your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits that you’d like to use, I will provide you with superbills (essentially, receipts for therapy services) that you can submit to your insurance company to obtain partial reimbursement for the session fees. You can check your plan’s out-of-network benefits HERE.
In order for services to be provided, an active credit card must be kept on file at all times.

I charge $200 per 50-minute therapy session.
Fees for group therapy sessions vary - please visit the “Services” page for updates on group offerings. If I am in-network with your insurance plan and you would like for me to bill your insurance company, your copay or coinsurance fee will be dependent on your specific plan - please contact me to verify your insurance coverage.

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy.
If you are using insurance coverage to pay for sessions, a $130 late cancellation fee will be charged if a cancellation is made with less than 48 hours’ notice.
If you are paying fully out-of-pocket for sessions, the full session fee of $200 will be charged to the card on file if you cancel a session with less than 48 hours’ notice. This structure is in place to ensure that your designated timeslot can continue to be reserved for you.
